Program Description

The Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design is a four-year program that aims to develop student competence in designing products for manufacture and sale. It offers rich and varied learning experiences to encourage student creativity, imagination, and resourcefulness in design.

The program covers entrepreneurship, as well as aspects of aesthetics, engineering, manufacturing, production, marketing, and management. The program is designed to produce qualified professionals who possess multidisciplinary skills in design, basic manufacturing, engineering, and management.

Goals

The Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design program specifically aims to develop the students’:

  • Aesthetic sense and skill in product research and development;
  • Ability to translate design into manufacturable items;
  • Skills in effectively applying design theories to the management of marketing and manufacturing concerns; and
  • Sense of mission, which enables them to view product design and development in the context of national progress and environmental consciousness.

The Industrial Design curriculum is relevant and responsive to the needs of the industry. Students are exposed to the actual demands of the workplace through practicums in select industrial institutions. Linkages with these institutions help the students keep abreast of the latest technological and scientific developments in the field of industrial design.
